Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education is looking to hire a full-time Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to support students in the remote First Nation communities of Keewaywin First Nation, North Spirit Lake First Nation, Poplar Hill First Nation, Deer Lake First Nation and Fort Severn First Nation. Reporting to the Vice Principal, the CDA will work directly with the Speech Language Pathologist to deliver assigned intervention programming to support students’ speech and language needs in kindergarten to grade 12.The CDA will participate in the Speech and Language Team in cooperation with KOBE staff, KO First Nation School Principals and teachers and student families in addressing students’ speech and language needs. The CDA will visit community schools and provide 1: 1 intervention to students in person and through virtual learning sessions. Qualifications and Skills:
- Communicative Disorders Assistant Certificate is preferred
- Post Secondary diploma
- Possess an attitude of respect and sensitivity towards clients with varied backgrounds and abilities.
- Experience with providing group and individual interventions to children and youth
- Experience working in a school setting
- Ability to be flexible within your role
- Possess ability to function successfully as part of a team
- Proven ability to work independently
- Possess excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel to remote First Nations in small planes
