Position Title : Executive Director Organization : Volunteer Airdrie Reports To : Board of Directors Job Type : Part-time (Est 30 hrs/wk) Location : Airdrie Alberta Workplace: Hybrid - Work from home with some on-site Salary Range: $30,000 to $40,000 About Volunteer Airdrie: Volunteer Airdrie promotes awareness of the power of service with a special focus on youth volunteerism. We builds capacity for effective local volunteering through training and resources for volunteer management, recruitment, promoting awareness and advocating on issues related to volunteerism and volunteer programs. Position Summary: The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of Volunteer Airdrie and the primary administrator. They are responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the organization's programs, staff, and financial health, ensuring alignment with its mission and values. As a small organization, this role will include social media management, event planning, database management, communication management, grant writing and fundraiser planning. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve the organization's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to refine and execute the strategic plan.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
Operations & Program Management
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Manage and support Volunteers and the Youth Volunteer Corps staff, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Financial Oversight
  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant applications, donor outreach, and events.
  • Ensure sound financial practices and provide regular updates to the Board on the organization's financial status.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, funders, and key stakeholders
  • Advocate for the organization’s mission and programs at local and provincial level
  • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and meetings
Qualifications: Required:
  • Non-profit experience
  • Proven understanding of nonprofit management, including fundraising, volunteer management, budgeting, and program development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to volunteerism and the Airdrie community
  • Experience with helping organizations manage change
  • Growth mindset
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent/temporary resident OR possess a valid work permit
Preferred:
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors
  • Knowledge of social media management and content creation, fundraising, event planning and grant writing
  • Familiarity with Sharepoint, Better Impact, SignUpGenius, Outlook and Zoom
  • Experience and comfort with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and a willingness to learn new platforms
