Bookkeeper UK Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Remote Bookkeeper to support UK-based accounting firms. The successful candidate will assist accounting firms by managing client accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in UK-specific accounting practices. Key Responsibilities
- Client Bookkeeping: Manage day-to-day financial transactions for multiple clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. Maintain accurate general ledger records for clients.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare client financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Assist in preparing reports for VAT returns and year-end accounts.
- Tax Compliance Support: Track and manage VAT calculations and submissions for clients. Provide support for tax return preparation in compliance with UK regulations.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions. Ensure accurate payroll data and compliance with UK payroll laws.
- Client Communication: Liaise with accounting firm staff and clients to gather necessary financial information. Respond to client inquiries and provide regular updates on financial activities.
- Process Optimization: Suggest and implement improvements to streamline bookkeeping processes for accounting firms. Stay updated on UK accounting and tax regulation changes.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably supporting UK accounting firms or clients.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero , QuickBooks , or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT regulations, and payroll processes.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
- Experience with Dext , Syft , BrightPay , Hubdoc , or similar tools is an asset.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping across a variety of industries.
- Adaptability to learn and use new software or processes.
