ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a high-energy Associate, Investments who has a passion for the transformative potential of science-backed ventures. The successful candidate must be capable of confidently and professionally representing our firm amongst a broad array of stakeholders, including scientists, founders, investors, and C-suite executives. This position requires you to work from the Company’s headquarters in Singapore. RESPONSIBILITIES Sourcing Perform market research to help develop and pressure-test compelling investment theses, based on robust analysis of global trends, grand challenges, technology and IP landscaping. Undertake/prioritize sourcing activity against approved theses. Build relationships with like-minded deep tech investor partners, venture studios, and entrepreneur/founder networks. Due Diligence/Deal Making Collate and organize a comprehensive dossier of background information relating to each target investment. Perform primary research/conduct interviews with potential customers, business partners, expert advisors/consultants, industry executives, etc. to validate assumptions; interrogate techno-economics; pressure-test competitive positioning, policy/regulatory landscape, market opportunity/dynamics; and evaluate technical development plans. Perform financial modeling and prepare investment cases to support valuation recommendations. Prepare cogent and concise investment arguments in written memos and verbal presentations to the IC. Support deal negotiations, deal structuring, and legal due diligence. Other Comply with internal policies and practices to capture contacts, meeting notes, analyses, and document other work outputs and shared knowledge. Support requests by auditors/external valuation firms. Other duties as may be requested by executive management. Requirements Degree in a physical science or computer engineering discipline. Advanced degree a plus. Experience in commercial R&D organization (e.g., within a start-up or innovation group within a large company) is preferred. Adept at distilling information from primary scientific and technical literature and communicating complex topics in layman’s terms. Experience building financial models and investment valuation cases. Analytical and curious mind with the ability to glean insights from data and make recommendations. Intermediate level Excel skills required for financial modeling; proficiency in Power BI/Query and VBA is a plus. Ability to produce well-designed, professional PowerPoint presentations. Self-starter who is able to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
