Who You'll Work With

You’ll be part of McKinsey’s SHaPE (Social, Healthcare, and Public Sector Entities) team and will be based in Riyadh. You will be a thought partner to SHaPE leaders to help deliver the client activation mission, supporting the overall client activation strategy and serving as the point person managing priority proposal opportunities. You will collaborate with the Practice leadership and management team, as well as colleagues from Finance, Risk, and Legal teams. You will collaborate with consultants leading priority proposals. Day-to-day, your team may consist of a Proposal Specialist and Proposal Manager. Alongside your alignment to SHaPE, you will be part of McKinsey’s Proposal Services path, a global community focused on growing our existing and new client relationships by enabling efficient and effective delivery of proposals. You will collaborate with other colleagues (e.g., client development advisors, proposal strategists, designers, competitive insights specialists, etc.) to shape our thinking on proposal best practices and drive continuous improvement. You will report to the regional Proposal Senior Manager.

Your impact within our firm

You will be a key member of the Proposal Squad for SHaPE, with a focus on Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will support teams within the SHaPE to co-create elements of distinctive proposals and associated supporting materials. Specifically, you will:
  • Coordinate the proposal document and process under the guidance of Proposal Managers/Specialists and in line with Saudi Arabia’s Government Tenders and Procurement Law
  • Create timely and high-quality proposal content; gather feedback and manage cadence of iterations and reviews with consultant teams
  • Embed self in consultant and proposal teams via agile operating model to learn client context and create compelling proposal documents, materials, and experiences
  • Seek opportunities to bring the best of the firm’s broader capabilities and expertise into proposals
  • Contribute to positive team dynamics by supporting other team members and celebrating success stories
  • Grow industry and sector knowledge during and outside proposals to help shape content proactively with relevant knowledge
  • Adhere to relevant procedures (e.g., file structure, archive, backup, tracking opportunities) for all proposal materials and processes
  • Prepare templates, compliance matrices, close-out activities, and/or other administrative elements throughout proposal development based on submission requirements
  • Build proposal development expertise and create content and thought leadership that can be used as recipes/best practices at the cell or global level
  • Maintain and populate proposal assets (playbooks, digital tools, templates, best-practice examples, reference cases)

Your qualifications and skills

  • University degree
  • 2+ years of experience in a client services setting, with experience in one or more of: public sector procurement, client development, business development, proposal management, communications
  • Basic understanding of professional services client development
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills in English and Arabic, written and verbal (e.g., ability to synthesize and convey complex information clearly and compellingly)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Results-oriented; entrepreneurial and self-driven
  • Collaborative; able to build relationships and influence stakeholders across roles and levels
  • High professional and ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
