Socotec KSA has been awarded the prestigious PMO contract for a confidential project in Riyadh City. As part of this high-profile initiative, we are seeking an experienced Masterplanning Lead to join our dynamic team. This role will report directly to the PMO Lead and play a pivotal role in leading the masterplanning efforts for large-scale urban regeneration and placemaking projects in Riyadh. Job Description
- Masterplanning Leadership: Lead the masterplanning efforts for the urban regeneration program, ensuring alignment with the project's strategic objectives and vision. Drive the design and implementation of masterplans, integrating urban design, landscape architecture, and heritage-led regeneration.
- Team Coordination: Lead multidisciplinary teams of urban designers, planners, landscape architects, and consultants. Ensure a cohesive approach and the successful integration of diverse technical inputs into the masterplanning process.
- Placemaking & Urban Regeneration: Lead placemaking initiatives by providing design and planning expertise that emphasizes the creation of sustainable, vibrant, and resilient communities. Prioritize heritage conservation and urban regeneration in line with the cultural and historical context of Riyadh.
- Form-based & Performance-based Codes: Provide expert guidance on the application of form-based and performance-based codes, ensuring the masterplan adheres to relevant regulations and fosters cohesive, high-quality urban development.
- Design Reviews & Technical Leadership: Undertake and coordinate integrated technical reviews of design work done by internal teams and consultants. Provide anticipatory, practical, and analytical advice to address design and implementation challenges.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders including governmental bodies, local communities, contractors, and consultants. Lead design charrettes, workshops, and presentations to communicate masterplanning strategies and foster collaboration.
- Program and Project Integration: Work closely with the PMO Lead to ensure that masterplanning strategies are integrated with the overall program management framework. Ensure that masterplanning milestones are aligned with the broader project timelines and objectives.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify and manage risks related to masterplanning processes. Proactively address potential issues in the design and delivery phases to mitigate project delays or cost overruns.
- Consultant Oversight: Guide and oversee third-party consultants and contractors in the development of the masterplan and placemaking elements. Ensure that their work integrates effectively with the larger project vision.
- Quality Assurance and Delivery: Ensure the timely and quality delivery of masterplans, ensuring all designs meet high standards of urban design, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Educational Background: Postgraduate degree in Urban Design, Urban Regeneration, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 20 years of global experience in leading masterplanning, urban design, and landscape teams. Proven track record of delivering at least 5 large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects, including heritage-led urban regeneration projects.
- Masterplanning Expertise: Extensive experience leading masterplanning and placemaking efforts with strong expertise in form-based codes and performance-based codes (or equivalent).
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams and coordinate complex design and planning efforts. Strong organizational and management skills.
- Certifications: Relevant professional certifications in Urban Planning, Project Management, or related fields are preferred.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage with senior stakeholders, present masterplans, and lead collaborative workshops.
- Design Management & Delivery: Strong expertise in design management, project management, and bid preparation. Proven ability to ensure the successful and timely delivery of large-scale masterplanning projects.
- Software & Tools: Familiarity with relevant design, planning, and project management software and tools. Experience in managing digital workflows and coordinating design teams through digital platforms is a plus.
- Masterplan Development: Lead the creation of masterplans that align with the project vision, integrating urban design, landscape architecture, and heritage considerations.
- Design Integration: Ensure seamless integration of all technical inputs from various disciplines, delivering a comprehensive masterplan that is both feasible and visionary.
- Stakeholder Workshops & Charrettes: Facilitate stakeholder engagement through charrettes, workshops, and presentations to ensure stakeholder buy-in and alignment.
- Design Reviews & Quality Assurance: Oversee technical reviews and ensure all design outputs adhere to high standards of quality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaboration with PMO Lead: Work closely with the PMO Lead to ensure masterplanning milestones are integrated within the larger program framework and aligned with broader project goals.
