Description

This position is open to any location in Canada. Responsibilities:
  • Perform safe and thorough inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on low, medium, and high voltage (480V to 600kV) electrical systems.
  • Analyze technical issues identified on-site and provide clients with informed recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
  • Performing an array of tests makes up a large portion of this role. Knowledge and experience in instrument transformer testing, electro-mechanical and solid-state relay testing, power transformer testing (e.g. Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.), automatic transfer switch troubleshooting, and cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot) are a sample of those.
  • Comprehensive testing abilities on switchgear and circuit breakers, low, medium, and high voltage, is required.
  • Must demonstrate strength and ability in preparing and maintaining accurate and timely reports. These records should share a detailed account of maintenance and testing results.
  • Required ability and willingness to travel (without restrictions) frequently, and for varying lengths of time. Though most often planned, you should be prepared for on-call duty and associated travel. This provides for prompt response to emergent needs. This type of travel typically is with little notice.
  • Must be able to perform essential tasks, including lifting equipment up to 50 lbs., frequently walking, standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, reaching, and using various hand tools and test equipment.
  • Manage multiple small projects, effectively utilizing technical staff, equipment, and resources, while ensuring adherence to client standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
  • Education in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field (certificate or diploma), or an Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Prior experience as an electrical technician or similar professional is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with terminating cable from major brands, e.g. 3M, Raychem, Pfisterer, and others.
  • NETA certification is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory to maintain a safe workplace.
  • You must hold a valid driver's license and not require high-risk insurance or have provisional driving restrictions. Being able to operate a motor vehicle under general fleet guidelines is critical in this field-based role.
