Founding Backend Engineer

About the job As our Founding Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with the CTO to design, build, and refine our platform’s backend services. You’ll have a pivotal role in shaping the Node.Js architecture, integrating with cloud services (e.G., AWS, GCP), and driving best practices for scalability and performance. While there will be some overlap with front-end components, your primary focus will be on server-side development, data modeling, and ensuring our APIs deliver a seamless experience for users. • Architect, implement, and maintain features for our SaaS platform, with an emphasis on the frontend
• Collaborate closely with our CTO and tight-knit team to drive the product’s roadmap
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables within an agile startup environment
• Participate actively in coding, troubleshooting, and code review sessions

You will thrive in this role if you have

• Proven experience with JavaScript Frameworks, particularly React
• Demonstrable experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Familiarity with building and integrating APIs for platforms such as Shopify, Google Analytics, and Stripe
• A strong background in handling large datasets and performing complex data processing tasks in a cloud environment
• Autonomy in daily tasks and the potential to take on a supervisory role as the company evolves
• A strong dedication to projects and the ability to sustain efforts over long hours
• The flexibility and willingness to be present in the office at least 2 days a week
• English fluency (conversational French or a willingness to learn would be advantageous)

Candidates with an edge will have

• 5+ years as a developer
• Generative AI background
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment with changing needs
• Familiarity with modern development and deployment tools like typescript, Firebase, Sentry, ESLint, Prettier, and Yarn
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) in a cloud environment
