The primary objective of the Data Architect role is to design, implement, and oversee Armstrong Group’s data architecture and management strategy. This includes the development and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure data systems that align with business objectives, enhance data-driven decision-making, and support advanced analytics. The Data Architect will play a critical role in defining and optimizing the flow, storage, and utilization of data across the organization to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely information is available to drive business operations and innovation. Core Responsibilities include: Data Architecture & Strategy Development: Architect and implement a comprehensive data architecture strategy that spans across cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring data is effectively managed, secure, and available for use across the Group. Solution Design & Implementation: Design and deploy data solutions, leveraging platforms such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and other relevant technologies, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and future scalability. Data Management & Governance: Develop and enforce data governance standards, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality data management practices, including data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Business Needs Comprehension: Understand the business’ needs and vision to ensure data solutions support and enhance business objectives. Data Value Identification: Identify opportunities to generate business value through effective use of data. Advanced Analytics & Business Intelligence: Collaborate with business and IDT teams to support advanced analytics, including data modeling, machine learning, and AI initiatives. Machine Learning Lifecycle Management: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from prototyping, implementation, and evaluation of ML and deep learning models, to deployment and monitoring using Azure. Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and storage solutions, including tools like SSIS, Data Factory, Synapse and other ETL technologies, for performance, cost-efficiency, and data integrity. Vendor Oversight: Oversee vendor architects, ensuring their work complies with the Group standards and aligns with the overall data strategy. Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design data-driven solutions that meet business needs. Mentor team members on best practices in data architecture, analytics, and governance, enhancing the overall capabilities of the IDT department. To succeed in the role, you should possess the following: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent. Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and optimization techniques, with experience in relational and non-relational databases, including data lakes and data warehouses. Professional certifications in data-related fields such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate , or equivalent certifications. In-depth experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, SSIS, and other modern data management and analytics tools. Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures in cloud and on-premises environments, with a focus on supporting advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Familiar with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, DAMA-DMBOK ) and data management reference architectures with deployment automation using Terraform. Strong working knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance, with a track record of managing data architecture in highly regulated industries. Experience with scripting and programming languages for data management and automation (e.g., SQL, Python, PowerShell, or similar). Comfortable with automated deployments using CI/CD pipelines and MLOps in Azure DevOps. Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and a foundational understanding of OpenAI and Azure Cognitive Services. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead complex projects and collaborate effectively across multiple teams. Minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience. Strong command of the English language, able to read and converse in Mandarin with our China colleagues and the general ability to communicate clearly is essential.
