The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a Middle East & Africa Tax Specialist (m/f/*), you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Reporting to the EMEA Tax Leader, you will make an impact by:

Direct Tax

  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information to be provided to an outside compliance provider for income tax filings.
  • Assisting the EMEA Leader with corporate income tax compliance, planning, and advisory in the Middle East & Africa.
  • Supporting any governmental and company-related corporate income tax audits that arise in the Middle East & Africa.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating proposed and newly enacted tax laws and regulations, and relevant case law.
  • Supporting the EMEA Leader in identifying ways to optimize direct tax processes.
  • Responding to questions and issues from business units and functional groups.
  • Teaming across functions to ensure compliance with local legislation.

Indirect Tax

  • Assisting the EMEA Tax Leader in managing and coordinating indirect tax advisory, planning, and audit activities across the Middle East & Africa.
  • Facilitating the selection of external service providers to support projects as needed.
  • Partnering with the Indirect Tax Compliance Team on indirect tax audits. Coordinating VAT audit strategy, appeals, and litigation with any other impacted internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting legal research and answering questions and challenges raised by Tax Authorities. Reviewing written responses and documents provided to Tax Authorities and/or Tax Courts.
  • Teaming with the Trade Compliance team to understand Import VAT treatment.
  • Understanding country business scenarios and the indirect tax impact of same, including required system configurations.

General

  • Reviewing and analyzing third-party and intercompany transactions and contracts, both international and domestic, to evaluate the direct and indirect tax impact, advise management, and provide solutions in order to optimize cash flows.
  • Management of WHT tax payment and filings.
  • Coordination of property tax payment and filings where relevant.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Tax or Finance (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Experience with Direct Tax within Saudi Arabia and/or the UAE. Experience with Indirect Tax is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to analyze complex fact patterns and transactions, and identify tax issues.
  • Ability to conduct research in tax law using adequate tools efficiently and apply the findings to the facts in order to provide useful advice, recommend appropriate courses of action, and develop viable solutions.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good business and financial acumen.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or SAP for invoice processing and high-level financial data analysis.
