Job Title: Senior Windows Server Architect Experience Level: 15-20 Years Position Overview: We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Windows Server Administrator/Architect to lead and optimize our Windows-based server infrastructure. This role demands a deep understanding of application servers , Windows roaming profiles , Active Directory , terminal servers , and server performance optimization , combined with expertise in AWS , reliability engineering , and advanced troubleshooting network bottlenecks. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain robust, high-performing, scalable systems to support critical business operations while ensuring security and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Infrastructure Design and Architecture:
- Design and architect Windows Server environments tailored to business needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Develop strategies for seamlessly integrating application servers and cloud-based solutions like AWS into existing infrastructure.
- Lead system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, ensuring minimal service disruption.
- Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, ensuring uptime, security, and performance.
- Oversee server performance optimization efforts, including load balancing, resource allocation, and monitoring.
- Implement and manage high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Design and maintain a secure and efficient Active Directory (AD) infrastructure, including replication and domain controller management.
- Develop and enforce Group Policy (GPO) configurations to standardize user and system settings.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AD-related issues, including authentication and replication problems.
- Implement and optimize Windows roaming profiles for a seamless user experience across devices.
- Address profile-related issues, such as synchronization errors or performance bottlenecks.
- Recommend and implement modern solutions to enhance profile management.
- Deploy, configure, and manage terminal servers to support remote desktop and application services.
- Ensure efficient licensing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of remote desktop services.
- Optimize terminal server environments for performance, security, and scalability.
- Leverage AWS services to extend infrastructure capabilities, including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM.
- Design hybrid cloud solutions and ensure smooth communication between on-premises and cloud systems.
- Monitor and optimize cloud-based resources for cost and performance efficiency.
- Implement reliability engineering best practices to enhance system availability and resilience.
- Conduct root cause analysis and proactively address system vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and optimize server performance using PerfMon, SolarWinds, or Splunk.
- Analyze and resolve network bottlenecks impacting server and application performance.
- Collaborate with network teams to ensure efficient data flow and secure connectivity.
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot connectivity and latency issues.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including SOPs, architectural diagrams, and project reports.
- Mentor junior administrators and provide technical leadership to the team.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive organizational innovation.
- 15-20 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server administration and architecture.
- Expertise in application servers , Active Directory , terminal servers , and roaming profiles .
- Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
- In-depth server and network performance optimization knowledge, including troubleshooting tools and techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Experience with reliability engineering principles and high-availability systems.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network troubleshooting.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert , AWS Certified Solutions Architect , or equivalent.
- Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SolarWinds , DataDog, and Newrelic
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- ITIL knowledge for managing IT service delivery.
