Job Specification: DevOps Architect - Azure Job Title: DevOps Architect Location: Fully Remote (Preferred candidates in India) Work Hours: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST Experience Required: 12+ Years (6+ Years on Azure Cloud) Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced and visionary DevOps Architect to design, implement, and optimize cutting-edge DevOps practices for a dynamic, multi-tenant production environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Azure Cloud , Infrastructure as Code (IaC) , containerization , and cloud security , with a strong focus on high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish a robust, automated DevOps ecosystem that drives business innovation and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: 1. Architectural Design and Strategy: • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient DevOps architectures for multi-tenant production environments. • Establish and document best practices for infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and cloud resource management. 2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): • Lead the development and maintenance of IaC solutions using Terraform, ensuring modular, reusable, and version-controlled infrastructure components. • Optimize IaC frameworks for automation, efficiency, and scalability across all environments. 3. Azure Cloud Expertise: • Architect and manage Azure services, including AKS, Web Apps, App Services, Front Door, API Management, Redis Cache, Cosmos Postgres, Cosmos MongoDB, and AI Search Index. • Implement and oversee strategies for disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud cost optimization using Azure tools and best practices. 4. Containerization and Orchestration: • Design and implement robust containerization strategies using AKS and Istio for efficient service mesh management. • Drive adoption of container security tools like CrowdStrike to enhance production security. 5. CI/CD and Automation: • Architect end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring seamless integration and deployment processes. • Automate build, test, and deployment workflows for enhanced reliability and faster release cycles. 6. Monitoring and Observability: • Lead the migration from App Insights to Splunk Observability, enhancing system performance monitoring and incident response capabilities. • Design and implement advanced observability solutions, integrating with OpsGenie for proactive alerting and incident management. 7. Cloud Security and Governance: • Develop and enforce robust security policies, including container security with CrowdStrike and secrets management with Azure Key Vault. • Oversee compliance with industry standards for cloud and application security. 8. Cost and Capacity Management: • Implement strategies for Azure cloud spend optimization and peak event capacity planning. • Utilize tools like CloudBolt for cost management and ensure efficient resource allocation across environments. 9. Legacy System Modernization: • Drive the decommissioning of legacy infrastructure and transition to modern, cloud-native architectures. • Support initiatives for ephemeral environments and API version management for improved agility. 10. Leadership and Collaboration: • Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and operations teams to align DevOps practices with business goals. • Provide technical mentorship to teams and ensure adherence to DevOps principles and best practices. Required Qualifications: Experience: • 12+ years of experience in DevOps or related roles, with at least 6+ years working on Azure Cloud solutions. • Proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale DevOps architectures. • Technical Expertise: • Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for building scalable and maintainable infrastructure. • In-depth knowledge of containerization tools (AKS, Istio) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins). • Expertise in Azure services like Front Door, API Management, Cosmos DB (Postgres and MongoDB), Redis Cache, Event Hub, AI Search Index, and Azure Functions. • Strong understanding of monitoring tools (Splunk, App Insights) and observability practices. • Hands-on experience with database optimization and cloud cost management tools like CloudBolt. • Security and Governance: • Proficiency in cloud security practices, including container security with CrowdStrike. • Expertise in secrets management using Azure Key Vault and enforcing secure DevOps practices. • Soft Skills: • Excellent leadership and communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams. • A proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in healthcare or retail industries. • Expertise in real-time data ingestion and API version management. • Familiarity with tools like Ataccama for data quality, OpsGenie for incident management, and Jira/Confluence for project collaboration. • Exposure to advanced practices like chaos engineering and ephemeral environments. Key Initiatives Led: • Designed disaster recovery failover and failback solutions. • Architected scalable multi-tenant shared production environments. • Optimized database performance (e.g., migrating RU-based MongoDB to vCore Cosmos DB). • Led cloud cost optimization and peak event capacity management efforts. • Transitioned observability tools (e.g., App Insights to Splunk). • Modernized legacy infrastructure and implemented secure containerization strategies.
