JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A MID-SENIOR LEVEL ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities as a Mid-Senior Level Accountant:

1. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
2. Manage and ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations, including BAS, GST, PAYG, and FBT, and support year-end tax return preparation.
3. Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing analysis and insights to aid in strategic financial planning.
4. Conduct monthly reconciliations of accounts payable and receivable, bank statements, and other financial statements.
5. Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian payroll legislation and award conditions.
6. Coordinate and prepare for audits, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information to auditors.
7. Provide financial guidance and strategic advice to management on improving financial operations and performance.
8. Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and systems, driving efficiencies and streamlining workflows.
9. Preparation of Financial Statements and Tax returns for Individuals, Companies, Trusts and Partnerships.

Qualifications as a Mid-Senior Level Accountant:

1. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on Australian accounting practices.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CA certification is preferred.
3. Proficiency in accounting software, such as MYOB, Xero, or QuickBooks; advanced MS Excel skills.
4. Strong understanding of Australian tax laws and ATO regulations.
5. Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders effectively.
7. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
8. Previous experience in a multi-entity or global organization.
9. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
10. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote setting.
