We specialize in vessel and marine asset design and conversion, marine operations engineering, and energy transition engineering solutions. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead/Principal Naval Architect to lead our engineering services. This pivotal role involves overseeing projects across diverse market sectors, collaborating with various departments, and contributing to the success of Longitude Engineering Pte Ltd and our sister companies. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers, designers, and technical personnel, ensuring their efforts align with project goals and quality standards while liaising with clients to guarantee successful project completion and customer satisfaction. You will also provide mentorship and coaching to foster the professional growth and development of your team. This hybrid role allows flexible work arrangements including remote work from home and office-based duties. What you will be doing As a Lead or Principal Naval Architect , you will play a key role in delivering exceptional naval architecture engineering services across our organization and sister companies. Your responsibilities will include project management, proposal preparation, and actively engaging in business development efforts to expand our client base. You will lead the conceptual, basic, and detailed design analysis of ships and various fixed and floating structures within the marine, offshore, and energy sectors. In addition, you will assist with a broad range of activities, that include: Technical Role Serve at the Naval Technical Authority within Longitude Asia Pacific, providing technical leadership to engineers in the team and liaising with other lead/principal naval architects across the Group as appropriate. Perform conceptual, basis and detailed naval architectural design/analysis activities. Participate in design reviews, audits, and Naval Architecture-related reviews. Evaluate and prepare concept selection reports and basis for design. Undertake technical consultancy work as required. Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with the business needs. Marketing & Sales Perform day-to-day client management activities with existing clients through established relationships. Support and undertake tendering activities. Partake in activities to promote the business and develop new clients. Management Manage assigned projects in terms of safety, quality, schedule and resources. Maintain responsibility for Naval Architectural engineering integrity, prepare working forecasts, identifying change management plans, and corrective action as well as real time schedules. Communicate resource needs to Operations Director to deliver assigned projects to quality, cost and schedule. Communicate directly with clients, as appropriate. Undertake project planning, invoicing and cash collection activities. Training Identify team's training requirements to develop technical competence in accordance with the Company's needs. Develop company training material to develop technical competence by the Company's needs. Identify your own training requirements to maintain continued professional development. Support the training and development of engineers within the team. General To represent the interests of all Group companies to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in all business activities. To comply with current revisions of all internal policies, procedures and guidelines. Follow the requirements of the HSEQ management systems. What we are looking for We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making skills. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will: Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering. 12+ years of naval architecture experience, focusing on transportation, installation, maritime compliance, and ship design/conversion. Experience in Oil & Gas, Maritime, and Renewables preferred. Proficient in MOSES, OrcaFlex, and GHS engineering software. Expertise in applying current standards and analytical techniques. Technical authority in naval architecture with strong computer skills and the ability to work independently. Capable of Senior Management responsibilities with limited direction or Line Manager supervision. Accustomed to leading a team in the execution of projects to a high standard on time and budget. Ability to consider technical matters in their economic/business and regulatory contexts. Strong people and project management skills. Able to build strong commercial relationships with clients. Strong interpersonal skills, a strong team player with a proactive approach. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Desirable Master's Degree or PhD in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering. Strong experience in Project Engineering and Project Management, complemented by a hands-on engineering background. Proven track record in managing engineering teams effectively. Experience in marketing, business development, and sales within the maritime industry. Familiarity with interfacing with multiple IACS Class Societies. Proficient in engineering software including ANSYS AQWA and Maxsurf. What is in it for you?
