The role supports Senior Management in meeting their regulatory obligations by providing active support in the implementation of Sanctions policy in compliance with Jersey Financial Services Commission, Qatar Central Bank regulations, Qatar Financial Markets Authority, and Group’s Global Policies and Principles and international standards. In this role, you will:
- Manage and coordinate Sanctions Compliance for the Qatar businesses and functions.
- Review any new/amended material laws, rules and regulations and Group Policies, assess their applicability to the business areas and guide the business accordingly ensuring all appropriate processes and procedures are amended to comply.
- Manage the daily review process of escalated alerts to ensure that agreed timelines are met.
- Assist Country Sanctions Officer in their responsibility for complying with all relevant Laws, Rules, Regulations and Group policies related to sanctions.
- Identify and contain Sanction compliance risks, foster a compliance culture in the Bank, optimize relations with the Regulators, protect the reputation of the Group and comply with applicable Group policies and standards and local laws and regulations in order to prevent criminal sanctions.
- Evaluate and monitor existing procedures and develop new procedures, systems and controls with specific focus on common systems, off shoring initiatives to minimize the risk of the firm being used for financial crime and ensure the business is compliant with current sanctions requirements.
- Prepare regulatory filings and correspond with regulatory agencies as agreed with the Country Sanctions Officer.
- Adhere to Risk Steward Standard Operating Procedures by ensuring effective oversight and governance, check and challenge of FLOD requests risks, controls, issues and escalations to forums as appropriate.
- AB&C risk stewardship: Perform duties as a country Subject Matter Expert and provide stewardship for AB&C risks and controls. Work closely with the regional AB&C compliance risk steward and support country head of FC in ensuring clear and timely dissemination of Group risk management policies specifically in relation to Gift and Entertainment policy and Third Party Management (TPM).
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience of the full range of personal and commercial banking services and have a strong subject matter expertise in the area of Sanctions including regulatory environment and regional regulations.
- The ability to multi-task across many fields involving potentially complex projects and multiple teams.
- Broad and deep understanding of the business, regulatory rules and laws, industry issues, business operations and priorities.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels.
- Experience in AML/ Sanction / AB&C Compliance Advisory and Risk Stewardship roles would be an advantage.
- Excellent command in English.
