Position Title : Junior Admissions Counselor Department : Admissions/Student Services Reports to : Director of Admissions Location : Dubai, UAE Salary : Up to AED 6k Experience: Minimum 3-4 years in Educational Sector Job Summary: The Admissions Counselor will play a pivotal role in assisting students and their families through the intricate university admissions process. This role involves understanding students’ academic backgrounds, career aspirations, and personal preferences to provide informed guidance. The Admissions Counselor will help students with university selection, standardized test recommendations, application submissions, and profile building, while maintaining clear communication with both students and their families. Additionally, the position will ensure the accurate management of data and adherence to the institution's admissions procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement and Needs Assessment
- Meet with students and families to understand their academic history, career goals, and preferences.
- Set expectations and timelines, ensuring alignment between all parties involved.
- Build trust with students to address their unique needs effectively.
- Cross-Selling Products and Services
- Identify opportunities to offer additional services, based on student needs.
- Recommend products and services that enhance the student's academic and admissions experience.
- Career Exploration and Academic Guidance
- Guide students, particularly in grades 9 and 10, in exploring potential career paths.
- Advise students on aligning their academic choices with future career goals, providing insight into required skills and qualifications.
- University Research and Selection
- Assist students in researching universities and selecting destinations that match their academic eligibility, career aspirations, financial situation, and personal preferences.
- Consider external factors like family proximity, immigration opportunities, and geopolitical stability when suggesting universities.
- Standardized Testing and Academic Support
- Advise students on the appropriate standardized tests (e.g., SAT, ACT, UCAT, LNAT) based on their goals.
- Offer resources for test preparation and academic support, including tutoring services.
- Parental Involvement
- Maintain open communication with parents, ensuring they are involved in key decisions.
- Keep parents informed about application deadlines, financial planning, and required steps.
- Scholarship and Financial Guidance
- Provide information on scholarships, financial aid options, and important deadlines.
- Advise students on how to meet the financial requirements for their applications.
- Profile Building and Application Support
- Help students build a competitive profile by encouraging extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and community involvement.
- Offer guidance on personal statement writing and application essay development, ensuring submissions highlight students’ strengths.
- Tailor the admissions process to each student’s academic performance and personal profile.
- Suggest appropriate courses and activities that enhance the student’s overall application.
- Application Process Management
- Ensure timely submission of applications, adhering to deadlines.
- Manage required forms and documentation, ensuring that all materials are submitted correctly.
- Visa and Accommodation Guidance
- Assist students with visa applications and provide information on accommodation options.
- Ensure families are supported in completing these necessary logistics smoothly.
- Client Feedback and Service Quality
- Gather client feedback throughout the admissions process to ensure high service standards are maintained.
- Address concerns promptly to ensure positive experiences for students and families.
- Timely Response and Ongoing Support
- Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours and provide ongoing support throughout the admissions cycle.
- Address any issues or concerns raised by students or parents promptly.
- Data Maintenance and Communication
- Maintain accurate records of student and application data, ensuring all information is up-to-date.
- Ensure smooth communication between departments to provide a seamless experience for students.
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience : 2-3 years of experience in student counseling, admissions advising, or a similar role within the education sector.
- Knowledge : Strong understanding of university admissions processes, standardized tests, scholarships, and career exploration.
- Communication Skills : Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present information.
- Customer-Focused : Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students and parents.
- Problem-Solving : Ability to tailor advice to the unique needs and goals of each student.
- Organizational Skills : Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Technology Proficiency : Familiarity with CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant educational platforms.
