Job Overview: Working within the Onshore business, reporting to the Onshore Business Environmental Manager, the Principal Environmental Specialist will be responsible for providing expert input and advice to the business function and projects on environmental management ensuring the implementation of global environmental systems for the Onshore operations.   1. Ensure implementation of McDermott management systems.
  2. Manage interfaces between McDermott, client, and subcontractors as applicable.
  3. Support FEED and projects as required.
  4. Assist project management in preparation of environmental documents or plans, project kick off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews, among others, as applicable.
  5. Apply knowledge in environmental to improve processes, effectiveness, reduce and manage risks, provide guidance, and influence processes and procedures.
  6. Ensure sites within the business line identify environmental risks through the aspects and impacts or other risk reviews (e.g. ENVIDs) including identification of controls and objectives and targets to ensure those risks are managed.
  7. Monitor, identify and communicate to the sites within the business line new and emerging local and applicable environmental regulation and requirements, including interpretation of their impacts to the business plan and provide solutions for adherence in a cost-effective manner; provide updates as necessary to reflect changes in the legal and other regulations of the list of regulations applicable to the company’s operation.
  8. Provide direction and support to the onshore business in the proper interpretation and application of the applicable regulatory and client environmental requirements specific to the scope of work.
  9. Provide environmental expertise for pre-qualification and bids as applicable for business.
  10. Provide technical and commercial support during the tendering stage.
  11. Ensure Global processes, practices, resources, and tools are adequate to manage the environmental risks and regulatory compliance.
  12. Support the planning and execution of the environmental assurance programs with QHSES assurance.
  13. Lead investigations of significant environmental incidents.
  14. Ensure appropriate environmental resources are assigned to sites when required.
  15. Prepare Environmental performance reports across the business line.
  16. Ensure environmental training is included in the onshore training matrix in coordination with QHSES training.
  17. Support implementation of plans to meet business Objectives, Targets, and Goals aligned to the corporate strategy.
  18. Review Area MOCs related to Environmental as applicable to assess related risks and ensure proper mitigation.
  19. Review the environmental Lessons Learned to ensure they are communicated and actions are implemented, as needed, at the sites.
  20. Support business ISO14001 external accreditation.
  21. Support business sustainability initiatives and reporting.
  22. Support the “Taking the Lead” and McDermott Operational Values (MOVs) program.
  23. Implementation of environmental program and activity plans.
  24. Mentoring and development of environmental personnel.
  25. Assist project management in preparation of environmental documents or plans, project kick off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews, among others, as applicable.
  26. Other duties related to environmental function, as directed by the Onshore Business Environmental Manager.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
  1. 8+ years environmental experience in oil and gas industry.
  2. Degree in environmental science, management, engineering, or other related field.
  3. Trained and experienced ISO 14001 standards internal or lead auditor.
  4. Ability to work as a team member as well as act as team leader.
  5. Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
  6. Be conversant with local and international environmental laws, regulations, and norms.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint) and other relevant online applications.
