About The Role ADA’s newly established Words 2 Action ILC (Information, Linkages and Capacity Building) project is now hiring new team members that share our values and passion for social justice for all. In this newly created exciting role you'll be part of a new team that will deliver information sessions and one-on-one self-advocacy support and training to people with disability. Covering Region; Townsville, Charters Towers, Ayr, Burdekin, with some overnight travel. Working within the community you'll be presenting, delivering and promoting ADA Australia’s Words 2 Action program at workshops, forums, community engagement and networking events across the region. The purpose of these activities (group and individually) is to ensure that people with disability, their families and carers, are aware of their rights and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to exercise those rights, particularly by building the capacity of participants to self-advocate. Responsibilities Include Assist with the design of program activities and resources. Deliver engaging group activities and individual support/training in the community. Network and build external partnerships. Assist with the design of information sessions. Accurately complete all administration tasks. Ensure that all service targets are met or exceeded. Identify service gaps for continuous improvement. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector and legislation. Other duties as reasonable required by line manager. About You Experience training, presenting and communicating with groups and individuals. Experience working within the disability sector and advocacy practices. Good knowledge of social justice frameworks, human rights legislation and complaints process mechanisms. Solid problem-solving skills with a solution focus. Engaging communication skills and empathetic interpersonal skills. Effective computer (client databases) and administration skills. Tertiary qualified in social work / health / community or human services or relevant experience. Preparedness for overnight travel as required. Benefits Include Part time, 3 days per week (flexible on weekdays). Normal hours 8.30am to 5pm. Fixed term until 30 June 2027. SCHADS 5.1 $49.28 / hr. Current (within 3 years old) National Criminal History Certificate. Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance. Valid Working with Children/Blue Card.
