Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific areas of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications. To support the research project titled: Technology Development of Thermal Management, Lifetime Assessment and Prognostics for Li-ion Battery Energy Storage System in Next-Generation Grid Design and Development of Compact Energy Storage System Design and Development of ESS coupled with solid state transformers This job position is required for recruiting a highly educated and experienced researcher to develop battery management systems for lithium-ion battery packs in energy storage system applications. It will also fulfill the objective of NTU in developing energy storage systems and novel renewable energy technologies. Key Responsibilities: Develop overall battery management scheme according to system performance requirements. Design and develop software for the battery management system. Design and develop hardware and PCB layout for the battery management system. Design and develop state estimation algorithms for the battery management system. Design and develop balancing control strategies for the battery management system. Conduct simulation tests and debug developed software for the battery management system. Conduct simulation tests, layout design, PCB design, manufacturing, and testing. Conduct simulation tests of the designed algorithms and balancing strategies. Prepare design progress documents and final project reports. Job Requirements: Master's degree in electronics, control, electrical, or similar. Research or working background in lithium-ion battery product development and production is a must. Experience in technology development for lithium-ion battery management systems is required. Candidate must be familiar with design requirements on control, state estimation, and balancing of battery packs. Familiar with software like Matlab/Simulink, Keil, CodeWarrior, Altium Designer. Understand development progress of battery management system products. Self-motivated and takes initiative. Independent and can work well with a team. Organized and detail-oriented.
