In this role, you'll lead a skilled group of professionals, ensuring the efficient and effective processing of resource consent applications while fostering positive relationships with mana whenua, stakeholders, and the wider community. - Lead and mentor the Resource Consents team, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the processing of resource consent applications in line with the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) and Councils District Plan.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mana whenua, recognising and incorporating Te Ao Māori perspectives in decision-making.
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, community members, and developers.
- Ensure compliance with statutory timeframes, delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Drive initiatives to improve processes and enhance service delivery.
- Proven experience in resource management, planning, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent understanding of the RMA and local government processes.
- Commitment to incorporating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Ao Māori into your work.
- Exceptional communication, negotiating, and relationship-building abilities.
- A Bachelor's Degree or Level 7 Diploma in a related field & Member of the NZPI or qualify for membership (desired).
