Do you have the ability to explain the complicated in a basic way to those with lesser understanding? Join our dedicated and collaborative Resource Consents team as a Team Leader. In this role, you'll lead a skilled group of professionals, ensuring the efficient and effective processing of resource consent applications while fostering positive relationships with mana whenua, stakeholders, and the wider community. Mō te tūranga | About the role

  1. Lead and mentor the Resource Consents team, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  2. Oversee the processing of resource consent applications in line with the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) and Councils District Plan.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with mana whenua, recognising and incorporating Te Ao Māori perspectives in decision-making.
  4. Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, community members, and developers.
  5. Ensure compliance with statutory timeframes, delivering high-quality outcomes.
  6. Drive initiatives to improve processes and enhance service delivery.
To succeed in this role you should possess the following:
  1. Proven experience in resource management, planning, or a related field.
  2. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  3. Excellent understanding of the RMA and local government processes.
  4. Commitment to incorporating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Ao Māori into your work.
  5. Exceptional communication, negotiating, and relationship-building abilities.
  6. A Bachelor's Degree or Level 7 Diploma in a related field & Member of the NZPI or qualify for membership (desired).
