Role Information Evotec is recruiting a Director or Associate Vice President of Business Development to join our Business Development team. In this role, the candidate will report to the Vice President of Business Development based on the East Coast. The candidate will support the VP/SVP Business Development in growing business within the territory. Responsibilities:
- Grow new business revenue and establish business relationships within the region
- Implement corporate sales and marketing plans
- Secure and retain business for Evotec through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at new clients
- Position Evotec as a primary or preferred provider for all discovery and development services
- Interact with operations and marketing to close new business and develop long-term relationships
- Interact positively with the entire business development and operations team
- An understanding of the drug discovery and development pathway
- Solid technical background coupled with clear ability to develop professional sales skills
- Critical thinking and creativity
- Ability to assess client needs and craft recommendations through effective written and oral presentations working together with the scientific and business development teams
- Analytical skills; ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and produce reports and documents to support sales arguments
- Ability to identify leads, assess the value of new business/product opportunities and close deals
- Essential; local connections within the East Coast, Boston, Cambridge, MA areas
- Demonstrated business acumen and responds proactively to business challenges
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve goals
- Makes good business decisions and solves problems
- Established network of contacts in the local drug discovery industry in the greater Boston area
- Able to lead the business development process, coordinate multinational teams and support deal negotiations to reach final agreements
- Persuasive and effective in negotiation
- Willingness and desire to learn; open to change
- BSc, MSc or PhD in a Life Sciences discipline required
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus
- A minimum of 5 plus years technical, operations, or alliance management experience and at least one year of successful sales experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech company. An existing deal sheet is a plus
- Demonstrable understanding of the drug discovery and development field with ability to learn business development
- An existing network of decision-makers in the pharma & biotech industry (VP, SVP, C-Level) is a plus
- Familiar with the greater Boston life science ecosystem and preferable located in close proximity to Cambridge/Boston to facilitate in-person client meetings, attend events, etc
