The Senior Financial Accountant reports to the Financial Controller and is responsible for month-end processes, financial reporting, and compliance. The scope for the Financial Accountant includes:
- Consolidation
- Month End
- Processing
- Audit
- Compliance
- Financial Statements : Prepare and finalize statements (balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow statements) to schedule, coordinate review, finalization, signing, and lodgement; analyze statements for discrepancies and issues and follow up to resolve and complete.
- Month End : Manage month-end, year-end, and early close processes, ensuring accruals and journals are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Reconciliations : Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account, general ledger, and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- General Ledger : Manage multiple entities in all jurisdictions (Australia, Indonesia, and Singapore), review monthly balance sheets, banking, and inter-company reconciliations, and complete monthly accruals and journals.
- Processing : Prepare and lodge BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax & Workers Compensation (in all states), and assist with the preparation of monthly payroll.
- Audits : Coordinate audit processes for Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation, adhering to accounting standards and policies.
- Other Duties : Perform other duties and projects as required.
- Experience in all areas of accounting, managing month-end and annual close, consolidated reporting (multi-currency, multi-jurisdictional), and general ledger management.
- Experience with international reporting for global entities (e.g., IFRS) is highly desirable.
- Managed or coordinated audit processes for multiple entities and worked with external audit firms.
- Experience working at one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms is desirable.
- 3 years or more of experience gained at an accounting firm or mid-cap corporate.
- No specific industry background required, but renewable energy or energy experience would be preferred.
- Numerate and commercial; strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, and ERP (Xero and Netsuite).
- Attention to Detail: Thorough, precise, analyzes data, and works to error-check and identify; thinks through details without distraction.
- Drives results; completes tasks fully and on time, pushes self and helps others to get the work done, will roll up their sleeves and take on additional tasks to assist the team.
- Communication; excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly proficient in preparing financial reports, dashboards, and financial information simply, clearly, and concisely.
- Drives accountability; holds self and others accountable to meet commitments; acts with a clear sense of ownership, drives clear responsibilities, and uses feedback to improve performance and deliver continuous improvement.
- Collaborates; builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, works cooperatively with others across the team to achieve shared objectives, represents own interests whilst being fair to others, and partners with others to get work done.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies, or similar.
- CPA, CA, CIMA, or ACCA certification.
