Webmaster
Job details
A highly skilled Webmaster who can powerfully differentiate our digital presence. This role requires a unique blend of creativity, technical proficiency, and a keen eye for detail. History and purpose Cognician is a multi-award-winning online learning company with offices in Cape Town, London, and San Francisco. Our founding belief is that people are capable of great things when their behaviour is driven by powerful ideas and deeply felt emotions. What does that mean? It means we deliver significant, measurable behaviour change to our clients in 30 days or less. Job description We’re looking for an experienced Webmaster (aka website design and maintenance pro), to help us 10x the Cognician Universe through a world-class website that matches our world-class product! Over the last 13 years Cognician has built a reputation for delivering exceptional custom-built behavior change programs to Fortune 1000 clients. And now we have a complimentary arm of our business having developed ready-to-go behavior change programs, which our clients can roll out at speed, at scale, and at lower cost, but without compromising on the impact we’re known for: measurable change in 30 days or less. And you, as our primary all-things-web evangelist, will help us keep building; communicating our vision, mission and value through our primary touch point with the world – our website! What experience do you have? We’re looking for someone who has a proven track record in:
- Creating and maintaining websites of beauty and significance
- SEO optimization and monitoring
- Website security and compliance implementation
- Digital brand strategy and articulation
- You’re a fantastic listener. You ask great questions.
- You’ve considered getting QA as your next tattoo – KIDDING, but Quality assurance is BIG for you.
- Your listening skills are only outmatched by your eye for design and detail.
- You’re a results driver and completely comfortable at CSuite level.
- You’re a disciplined creative who thrives on accountability and from time to time, you might forget that you’re not actually a Project Manager – but yes, you love it!
- You dive into your day catching up on the exciting briefs that have landed in your Asana inbox.
- Once you’ve got a feel for the task to-dos and you know your priority list you switch to website health check mode.
- You notice an animation seems to have stalled. You nip it! Well done you!
- There’s a security update you need to manage. You tee things up and get to it!
- Wow! Things are off to a great start!
- YAY! It’s time to implement the accessibility work you’ve been planning. You’ve been doing research on standards and you’re really keen to see how the changes enhance mobile responsiveness.
- You schedule a call with the People team to get the latest events photos to upload
- You take a walk before lunch, because as much as you LOVE implementing innovations you value your wellbeing!
- Call with Barry, to review Asana to-do's, progress and priorities. And you want to share some website activity insights that you think will inform the next page build.
- Prep for the next day:)
- Showcasing Cognician capability through the Cognician Website
- Improving Careers and People pages
- Keeping the Cognician website up to date both aesthetically, functionally and technically – particularly from a cybersecurity perspective

- Working your way through workflows, landing and blog pages making sure emails fire and demos are booked
- Keeping us on trend and anticipating future website needs
- Growing our reach, growing your skill

- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative design solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and analytics tools.
- Experience with UX/UI design.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- We’re a “Top Culture Company”. We have an award to prove it:)
- We value Questioning, Integrity, Excellence, Action, Teamwork, Empathy, People, and Wellbeing. We don’t expect you to recite the definitions, or even remember the list. We hire people who share our values, though.
- We know what it means to balance family and work life – catch you on the next school run.
- We have quarterly internal awards, which we call Mind, Heart and Hands.
- Weekly team meetings end in appreciation sessions, which can often run over time. We genuinely care for each other, and for the ways in which we work together.
- Everything we do is about meaningful work. Our work improves the lives of the people who take our programs. And it improves the organisations who run them.
- We’re fully remote but there’re always great meet-ups that you can opt to join and a monthly coffee budget to change up the four walls a bit.
- We cover your home wifi costs in full.
