Job Description: Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Project Engineer - Architect to join our team! In this role you will provide architectural support to the Construction and Project Management departments for the design and construction of diverse building and infrastructure projects, with a focus on residential, commercial, educational facilities, public buildings, and leisure facilities. Responsibilities include addressing A/E reviews, preparing engineering/design contract RFPs, reviewing PC/EPC contract-based design drawings and materials, and resolving construction-related issues. The role requires close collaboration with other sections and disciplines within the department and, occasionally, with external A/E firms or design professionals. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Plans and schedules work, determining workload and assignments for the group as applicable. Provides leadership and direction to the team by outlining methods of approach, highlighting critical areas, and setting priorities to meet established deadlines.
  • Provides architectural input for all projects and programs. Coordinates architectural activities with those of other disciplines.
  • Supports the preparation and organization of technical content required for Requests for Proposal (RFPs), covering both design and construction phases of assigned projects. Evaluates client requirements to help define the technical elements of the detailed project scope.
  • Collaborates with various departments to develop the scope of work for new projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and organizational standards.
  • Works with the engineering team to create detailed design specifications, ensuring the information is comprehensive and clear for precise interpretation of the required project scope.
  • Participates in the technical evaluation of potential bidders for project contracts and contributes to recommending shortlists of qualified contractors. Coordinates the technical analysis and evaluation of proposed bids.
  • Takes part in final negotiations to determine contract terms. Assists Project Managers in compiling technical portions of definitive contracts.
  • Monitors the technical progress of A/E contractors. Reviews design drawings, specifications, manuals, shop drawings, vendor data, calculations, and other technical information submitted by A/E or construction contractors at all contract phases.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to A/E or construction contractors, interpreting specifications and addressing technical inquiries as needed. Requests clarifications or additional information from contractors to ensure submitted data meets project requirements.
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of Senior Project Engineers and other assigned personnel.
  • Ensures designs incorporate sustainable practices and innovative solutions aligned with current architectural trends.
  • Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies during the design and construction phases.
  • Regularly communicates with stakeholders to align expectations and resolve issues.
  • Prepares progress reports/presentations to show status of projects to Senior Management and third parties as required.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • A Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) or related field from a recognized University with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience. Design experience related to large scale community development with emphasis on site development is desirable.
  • Western as a Professional Chartered Architect.
  • LEED and PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English is essential.
  • A proven record of technical and administrative ability in projects & design management.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
  • In-depth working knowledge of US Architectural and Building Codes.
  • Extensive experience leading design teams on complex large scale building projects.
  • Extensive experience with indoor finishes and materials for commercial and public buildings.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, with experience in BIM considered an advantage.
