The Generation Engineering team is the centre of engineering for ESB's generation businesses and also provides consultancy services in generation technology for domestic and international external clients.We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Professional Engineer in Electrical Design for electrical assets in Power Generation Plant. The successful candidate will support ESB in the delivery of new Generation projects such as the development of new build zero and low carbon generating assets, support existing assets within ESB's plant portfolio, and provide support for consultancy services for national and international clients.Key ResponsibilitiesScoping of electrical projects, define requirements and customer needs and assess and manage project and technical risks.Manage Electrical projects from inception, specification, design reviews, procurement, validation, installation, commissioning and handover to customer.Prepare plant specifications and evaluate tenders from scope, quality and technical perspective.Carry out design and also design reviews of new build and retrofit generating plant to maximise safety and reliability and minimise life cycle cost and technical risk.Act as PSDP contact person on nominated projects (training provided). Act as Lead Engineer for projects, with responsibility to coordinate the overall engineering input to the project for the duration of the project.Review construction and commissioning plans, method statements, risk assessments, and other associated documentation when in a site supervision role.Provide specialist services to support ESB Generation and Trading (G&T) and external clients in Ireland and abroad in the area of electrical systems in power generating stations.Develop and maintain technical knowledge of electrical systems on generating plant which will include drafting and updating of engineering standards, plant specifications, FAT protocols, and Inspection & Test plans.Assess technical risk and promote best practice in relation to electrical systems on Generating Stations for ESB Generation and Trading.Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements in relation to electrical engineering. Keep abreast of latest developments in statutory and regulatory requirements in relation to control and process engineering.Keep informed of relevant technology advances in the area of expertise and promote their implementation where appropriate.Assist in the planning and coordination of team tasks across work streams.
