Officer, Student Recruitment and Business Development (International)
Location: Curtin University Malaysia, Miri, Sarawak Position Type: Full-Time (Contract) Salary range: RM 31,8000 – RM 49,080 per annum Your new role This position is responsible for the development and implementation of long-term and annual plans for Student Recruitment & Business Development (International) in alignment with goals and targets set at Curtin University in Sarawak. He/she will help to develop and execute the plan of international student recruitment initiatives which includes a range of activities (e.g. attending to incoming emails, walk-in/call-ins at campus including at any venue out of campus, organisation of promotional events, recruitment of students, building links and networks with students and parents, recruitment partners and overseas collaboration partners from institutions of higher learning. He/she is accountable for achieving the team targets, by supporting the team recruitment pipeline and recruitment partners management. Key Responsibilities:- Develop the recruitment plan in the areas/regions assigned. The incumbent is expected to support and execute all planned recruitment activities of the year as per the allocated budget efficiently.
- Provide information for the purpose of enrolment to prospective students on the programmes offered by the university and to achieve set targets in student enrolment.
- Organise promotional events in accordance with the allocated budget, attend fairs, receptions, seminars etc., to promote Curtin’s programmes and recruit potential students. The incumbent is expected to obtain an agreed sizeable amount of leads and applications from each event organised or participated for a funnel conversion.
- Initiate new ideas to recruit students via events, activities and any other window of opportunities.
- Follow-ups on all leads, applications and offers using leads and student management system, SMS/WhatsApp, EDM and phone/WhatsApp/WeChat calls.
- Follow-ups for all offers and convert each to payment with the prearranged conversion rate.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with recruitment agents in the areas/regions assigned. Good relationships are maintained with all stakeholders without negative feedback on work matters. Actively ensures the agents perform by giving them targets.
- Manage enquiries, and ensure all emails, calls/walk-ins are responded to promptly and in a professional manner to increase student enrolment.
- Cultivate good working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to acquire quality leads.
- Gather market intelligence, such as trends in applications and popular courses in the market.
- Prepare post-event reports for every event participated in/conducted. The incumbent must ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed. Report submissions, claims and post-mortem reports are to be completed within the given stipulated timeframe.
- Any other duties as directed by the Manager and Senior Director within the capacity of this position.
- A degree from a recognised institution preferably in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent.
- Demonstrated a high level of motivation to work with people, able to deal with customer enquiries in an effective and positive manner.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and workload in order to meet deadlines and maintain control of multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated effective planning skills, including developing recruitment plans and monitoring recruitment budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team. Demonstrated ability to produce written reports that are clear and accurate.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills (including presentation and negotiation skills) with a wide variety of people and with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Willing to travel extensively and work on flexible schedules and working hours.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
- Ability to write and speak in Mandarin/other Chinese languages besides English would be an added advantage.
- Possess good networking with recruitment agents, government agencies, embassies etc., internationally.
- Work experience in a higher education setting is highly preferred.
- A responsible person who possesses a high level of integrity.
- Preferable a person from Miri, Sarawak or willing to relocate to Miri, to base in campus and support offshore staff and perform day-to-day International Student Recruitment operations.
- For non-Sarawakian applicants, preferably to be 27 years old and above.
