Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering with minor or basic in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in the related position and field, preferably in Oleo Chemical, Oil Refinery or Petrochemical Plant.
  • Well versed with legal requirements e.g. Occ. Safety & Health Act (OSHA 1994), Factory Machinery Act (FMA) & Environment Quality Act (EQA).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Knowledge in conducting Risk Assessment Audit and HAZOP study will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Manager to implement Occupational, Safety, Security, Health (OSHAS) and Environment Management System (EMS) in the company. Keep abreast with the latest regulatory rules and standards such as Dept. of Safety & Health (DOSH), Dept. of Environment (DOE), Ministry of Health Department, and Fire Services Department.
  2. Assist to review and monitor the implementation of OSHAS Program, Policy and Procedures and initiate action to ensure compliance with all internal and external legal requirements. Provide necessary training, guidance, and advice to staff to protect and prevent occupational injury illness, potential hazards, and minimize environmental impacts.
  3. Responsible for day-to-day management of the security matters of all company’s factories and offices. Identify and report potential hazards and unsafe practices that may cause any form of injury or damage to Company property.
  4. Ensure the Company is in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  5. Prepare internal and external regulatory reporting requirements and submit to authority in a timely manner. Example: Schedule Waste Report to DOE, accident report to DOSH, or any other relevant government authority report as required.
  6. Coordinate with authority on the yearly inspection and renewal of machinery and plant equipment permit as per FMA, Bomba or DOSH requirements.
  7. Investigate accidents to identify causes and determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
  8. Assist to monitor the implementations and enforcement of SSHE measures introduced by the Company among employees including sub-contractors.
  9. Check if materials including chemicals are safely handled, stored, and used as per EQA Act.
  10. Identify and report possible hazards and unsafe practices that may cause any form of injury or damage to property. Carry out audits and inspections at construction work sites to ensure compliance.
  11. Monitor and inspect equipment, workplaces/sites/factories and ensure suitable protective equipment (PPE) is provided, used correctly, and compliance with safety policies at all times.
  12. Assist to train Emergency Response Team (ERT), First Aider, hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, or ventilation surveys and coordinate activities related to Schedule Waste Management or Environment monitoring.
