Main Activities/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of lab-based content of teaching programmes at undergraduate level under the guidance and supervision of senior colleagues.
- Design and deliver a range of teaching laboratories at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement in a manner that supports a research-informed approach to student learning.
- Develop lab-based teaching materials and methods with assistance and support to ensure that defined learning objectives are met.
- Organise the timetabling of the laboratory sessions and ensure that each session is suitably staffed with academics, technical staff, and postgraduate research students.
- Embed Health and Safety awareness training into the laboratory teaching programme.
- Liaise with academic staff to ensure delivery of teaching laboratory exercises consistent with the taught component of undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
- Support experimental activities within undergraduate and postgraduate final year dissertations.
- Manage and prioritise own workload within agreed objectives to ensure that all activities are completed to deadlines.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback, including setting and marking student assignments under supervision and contributing to the development of examination questions.
- Contribute as a team member to Department administrative activities.
