Southern Steelworks, a renowned and well-established structural steel fabrication company operating for over 20 years, is seeking a skilled Workshop Manager to join our team. As the Workshop Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing our fabrication operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely completion of projects. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the workshop team, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the workshop, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.
• Read and interpret technical plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of structural steel components.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and client specifications.
• Monitor inventory levels, anticipate material requirements, and collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the availability of necessary resources.
• Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the workshop staff.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and drive operational excellence.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a leadership role directly related to structural steel fabrication, preferably with managerial experience.
• Strong personal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with workshop staff, project managers, and clients.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineers drawings, specifications, and detailed shop drawings related to structural steel fabrication.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
• Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural steel fabrication.
• Familiarity with fabrication equipment, tools, and processes used in the steel fabrication industry.
