What's involved with this role: Biodiversity Environment Officer Reference no: Kirklees 0009 728A / 1 Pay Rate: up to £33 per hour PAYE, negotiable for the right candidate Hours per week: 15-37 Monday – Friday This opening assignment is for 3-6 months City: HUDDERSFIELD This role can be worked either full-time or part-time (1-2 days per week will be considered) - flexible hybrid arrangement (at least 1 day office based). We are seeking an experienced Biodiversity/Ecological Officer to bring expertise in biodiversity, ecology, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to support a small team effectively. The role involves managing and providing informed input on biodiversity and ecological matters, as well as handling outstanding planning applications, including prioritising those submitted through paid services.Candidates should possess a strong background in planning, with relevant experience in ecological or biodiversity work, ensuring they can seamlessly contribute to the team’s objectives. Prior working experience in a similar role is essential. Key requirements:
- A relevant degree qualification in ecology or equivalent experience
- CIEMMA qualified (desirable)
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Environment Act and the mandatory requirements/application in relation to Biodiversity Net Gain
- Proven experience in the field to be able to offer ecological/biodiversity advice to colleagues, applicants, agents and developers at all stages
- Experience of working in a planning Development Management environment dealing with planning applications, preapplications and condition discharge details
- Experience with a local authority or have an awareness of their policies, processes and procedures.
