Job Summary:
- Assist physicians in the physiological monitoring of patients.
- Prepare drugs, fluids, anesthetics and equipment accessories for operative interventions requiring anesthesia.
- Set up, operate and maintain monitoring of anesthesia equipment.
- Consult with and keep anesthesiologist informed of activities, needs, and problems.
- Comply with established anesthesia standards. Implement and maintain established department/hospital policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control. Interpret these to subordinate personnel.
- Follow established routines and utilize supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and personnel.
- Assist anesthesiologist with orientation, instruction/training, and supervision of subordinate personnel. Supervise new recruits.
- Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee, interdepartmental, and public relations.
- Maintain patients' rights and confidentiality of patient information and abide by established communications code.
- Attend required meetings and in-service education programs. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
- Perform tasks such as:
- Consult the operating room schedule to determine equipment needs for special procedures.
- Prepare the operating room for indicated procedures, including setting up and calibrating monitoring devices during interventions.
- Assist anesthesiologist in inserting arterial catheter needles, attaching to transducers, and flushing with saline solution.
- Set up and attach blood warmers and blood pumping apparatus to patients.
- Position patients on heating and cooling mattresses and adjust accordingly. Attach mattresses to the hypothermia machine and regulate proper temperature.
- Diploma of Anesthesia from an accredited school/university.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic, written, reading, and spoken.
- At least 2 years' experience in the field post-graduation.
- Valid Saudi MOH License.
- Experience in preventive maintenance of anesthesia and respiratory equipment required.
