Description The Civil Inspector - Marine plays a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects in marine environments, particularly those involving marine infrastructure. This role requires a specialized understanding of both civil engineering principles and the unique challenges of working in marine settings. Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Interacting with clients and contractor staff to determine and verify project requirements.
- Interacting with contractor, sub-contractor, and laboratory & monitoring construction work on a daily basis.
- Control the site inspection and testing and maintaining inspection reports and site test records.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare instructions, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve design documents and construction plans and procedures.
- Performing civil and structural tests.
- Providing general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
- Identifying non-conforming works, generating reports and corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
- Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Working in conjunction with engineers to solve project design problems, performing basic design calculations as required.
- Conducting technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
- Experience in utility diversions and management.
- Following safe work practices and adhering to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
- Completing all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
