Embedded Engineer – Wolverhampton – £75,000 + Benefits KO2’s client, an innovative leader in electro-mechanical interlocking systems for hazardous areas, is seeking a talented Embedded Engineer to join their expanding electronics team in Wolverhampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Embedded Engineer with a strong background in electronics, keen on working in a regulated environment, and with the ability to architect and guide projects from inception to completion. The Role: As a Senior Embedded Engineer on a growing team of 6, you will play a pivotal role, acting as a technical lead and mentor. You’ll be at the forefront of designing safety-critical systems for applications across warehousing, automotive, robotics, and more. This position is 70% focused on embedded software development in C, leveraging your knowledge of electronics, including analogue and digital systems, to help shape products through the full development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
- Architecting robust embedded systems with a strong focus on safety and reliability.
- Developing firmware for electromechanical systems and microcontrollers, especially STM32 and potentially TI chipsets.
- Utilizing your expertise in Ethernet and industrial protocols to develop secure access and interlocking systems.
- Collaborating closely with an electronics team in a mixed hardware/software environment.
- Leading projects, conducting EMC testing, and ensuring third-party compliance approvals.
- Proven experience as an Embedded Engineer with a solid understanding of electronics.
- Experience with system architecture, especially in safety-critical or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in C programming, Keil development environment, and enterprise architecture.
- Familiarity with EMC testing and regulated industry requirements.
- Knowledge of STM32 microcontrollers and Ethernet applications.
- Competitive salary: £65,000 - £75,000 based on experience
- Hybrid working: 3 days on-site in Wolverhampton, 2 days remote
