An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Open Pit Mining Engineer to join our team as we continue the mining of the Buck Reef West open pit and commence mining at Sarsfield open pit. This permanent opportunity will report to the Mine Planning Superintendent and be a vital member of the Mining Department. You will be responsible for providing technical input across a broad range of production activities including drill and blast; mine design and scheduling; and assisting with managing the mining activities in the pit. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Complete daily, weekly and fortnightly mine designs, plans and schedules in a timely manner and ensure they are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Reconciliation of production performance against the Mine Plan and collate and compile weekly and monthly reports.
- Identify, report and communicate mining issues and make recommendations (including developing mine plans, designs, or tools) for rectifying them.
- Conduct project planning including producing schedules, analysing progress and reporting.
- Coordinate mine development jobs (e.g., clearing, road construction, culvert installation) to meet future production requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with approved design requirements and procedures (geotechnical, hydro geological, geological, HSEC, haul road design procedure etc.).
- Support best practice through developing and embedding of functional system, monitoring key performance measures, and sustaining continuous improvement processes.
- Engage with and support key operations stakeholders, especially the mining superintendents.

- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work.
- Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering.
- 2 plus years’ experience in mining engineering with experience in open pit hard rock mining.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and mining software such as Surpac or Deswik.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory obligations.
- Permanent position with a reputable mining company and a mine life in excess of 10 years.
