The O&M Electrician/Rigger is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications tower equipment and infrastructure, including climbing, rigging, and handling electrical tasks. The role ensures the optimal performance, safety, and compliance of our passive telecommunications tower assets, supporting the overall goal of providing reliable infrastructure for our clients. This position involves field work and requires adherence to safety and operational protocols. Reporting The O&M Electrician/Rigger reports to the O&M Team Leader/Engineer. Key Responsibilities
- Tower Climbing and Rigging
- Climb and perform rigging tasks on towers of varying heights to install, maintain, or repair antenna mounting brackets and other tower infrastructure.
- Install mounts and brackets on towers as per design specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and minor repairs on guy wires, if applicable, nuts, bolts, and safety equipment.
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems on-site, including power distribution boards, backup generators, batteries, and grounding systems.
- Ensure all tower lighting systems are functional and in compliance with safety and aviation regulations.
- Address any electrical faults promptly to minimize downtime.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM)
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance inspections to ensure site equipment and systems are in optimal condition, logging all findings and actions taken.
- Perform corrective maintenance to address any immediate or unexpected issues, minimizing the impact on network availability.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as per regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine safety checks on harnesses, lanyards, and other climbing/rigger equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards, to uphold Alliance Towers Corporation's commitment to responsible tower operations.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Document all maintenance work performed, logging issues, repairs, and any modifications made to the site equipment.
- Provide detailed reports after each site visit, including photos and data on equipment status, maintenance performed, and any recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in updating asset management records and O&M manuals as needed.
- Education: Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field; formal rigging training is a plus.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in rigging and electrical work, preferably in the telecommunications or infrastructure sectors.
- Others:
- Residence in the province where the job is situated and willing to be assigned to a designated working base within the province.
- Knows how to drive and has a valid driver's license.
- Certified to climb telecommunication towers.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in climbing and rigging for telecommunications towers.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices for tower infrastructure.
- Competency in using maintenance tools, electrical testing equipment, and PPE.
- Safety Awareness: High level of adherence to safety protocols and a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in conducting installations, repairs, and documenting work accurately.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and communicate effectively with the Team Leader/Engineer.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions, with the physical endurance required for field-based tasks.
- This role involves extensive travel to multiple tower sites within [Region/Area], often under challenging field conditions.
- Fieldwork includes exposure to varying weather, heights, and remote locations.
- Regular overtime, weekend work, and on-call availability may be required in emergency maintenance situations.
