Role Overview
The Unit Manager Engineering is responsible for managing engineering projects and services within Sibanye-Stillwater’s operations. The role ensures project alignment with organizational and international best practices, compliance with legal standards, and adherence to safety, health, and environmental excellence. The incumbent will focus on stakeholder alignment, financial management, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities
Project and Compliance Management
- Oversee efficient project services, audits, and reporting aligned with best practices.
- Conduct project visits to monitor compliance and address issues proactively.
- Maintain project progress to ensure outcomes are achieved within the planned scope.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of project management documentation.
- Manage project dependencies and interfaces for seamless integration.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships across organizational and external stakeholders.
- Provide focused reporting on information, strategies, and action plans to ensure alignment.
Financial and Strategic Planning
- Participate in financial processes, including budgeting and cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives for organizational sustainability and ESG compliance.
SHE Leadership and Knowledge Sharing
- Drive a culture of safety, health, and environmental excellence.
- Ensure compliance with SHE standards and foster leadership in these areas.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing by capturing project insights and conducting post-project reviews.
Legal and Transformation Compliance
- Manage compliance with national and international standards, including MHSA and OHSA Acts.
- Lead transformation and cultural development initiatives aligned with organizational values.
Requirements
The Appointee Should Have
Minimum Qualifications
- NQF 7 Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Advanced Certificate in Project Management.
Experience
- At least 7 years of experience in a related role, including:
- 2 years at a management level or in a functional/specialist area.
- 5 years in a project office within a mining environment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of MHSA and OHSA Acts.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office).
- Problem-solving strategies and data analysis techniques.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English.
- Integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work extended hours on an ad hoc basis.
Additional Requirements
- Medically fit as determined by Sibanye-Stillwater’s Occupational Health standards.
- Clear security screening record.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Government Certificate of Competency.
- Registered as an Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
