MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure a safe, positive patient experience by supporting the unit manager in the coordination of patient care and management of the unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards.
• Manage the patient experience.
• Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilization of staffing resources.
• Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development.
• Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital).

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:

• Degree/ Diploma in General Nursing.

DESIRED EDUCATION:

• Midwifery.
• Postgraduate certificate/diploma in specialty area.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• None.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• None.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Pharmacology.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Scientific nursing principles and process.
• Develop/modify a nursing care plan.
• Scope of practice for nurse practitioners.
• For specialized wards; ACLS; ATLS; PALS trained.
• Analyzing and interpretation skills.
• Basic life support trained.
