Job details

Engineer / Lead Engineer - Embodied AI Research and Development, RAUS COE The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovative solutions and develop world-class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. Being part of 3i , the technology development domain of RAUS CoE focuses on advancing robotics and unmanned systems through innovative research, design, and development. Within this domain, the embodied AI R&D pillar integrates cutting-edge AI models into robotic platforms, enabling seamless interaction with the physical world. The role involves designing robot planners for autonomous task execution, developing robot skills for Home Team operations, and managing datasets for AI model training. Key responsibilities include optimizing embodied AI systems through advanced techniques like reinforcement learning, Sim2Real transfer, and domain randomization, while leveraging high-accuracy physics and rendering engines. In addition, the role includes deploying these systems in real-world environments, ensuring scalability, robustness, and continuous performance enhancements based on operational feedback. What you would be doing: Develop algorithms that enable robots to perceive their environment, process sensory data, and make decisions in real time. Implement machine learning models such as reinforcement learning, or imitation learning to train robots for specific tasks. Implement grounding on embodied AI systems to ensure high-level reasoning is accurately transformed into physical actions. Design and integrate AI models with robotic hardware, including sensors, actuators, and control systems. Develop and fine-tune robot planners that translate task plans into actionable motions and control systems. Ensure embodied AI systems adhere to hardware constraints and respond efficiently to dynamic environments. Deploy AI models onto physical robots, ensuring that they can scale and perform reliably across different platforms and operational scenarios. Monitor the performance of embodied AI systems in real-world environments and iterate for continuous improvement. What are we looking for: Tertiary Education in engineering; preferably Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Robotics / Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence (AI) or related fields. Post-graduate degree would be an advantage. A strong academic and research background in robotics or AI would be an added advantage. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in robotics, AI, or related fields. Good understanding of machine learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, sensor fusion, robotics simulation (e.g., Issac SIM, MuJoCo), and model deployment. Experience in developing robotics involving sensor fusion and AI would be an added advantage. Excellent team player. Self-motivated and committed with a sense of urgency to deliver the desired outcome. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines as well as being results-oriented. A creative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate technical challenges and uncertainty. Strong analytical, planning, and project management skills. PMP, system engineering, or equivalent certification would be an advantage. *** All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
