Job Title: RPG Developer Location: Watford - Onsite Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Are you an experienced RPG Developer looking to take your career to the next level? Chapman Tate Associates is working with a leading retail organisation seeking a talented RPG Developer to join their team. As an RPG Developer, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting RPG-based applications within a fast-paced retail environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions that streamline operations and improve customer experiences. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain RPG programs for retail business applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure seamless integration with existing systems, including ERP and POS solutions.
- Optimise and debug code for performance and functionality improvements.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software on time.
- Strong proficiency in RPG programming (RPG IV, ILE, and Free Format).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working within the retail sector.
- Hands-on experience with AS400/iSeries systems.
- Strong understanding of retail business processes, including supply chain, inventory management, and sales.
- Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing applications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with ERP solutions in a retail environment.
- Knowledge of SQL and DB2 databases.
- Exposure to modern development practices like DevOps, CI/CD, or Cloud Technologies is a plus.
