Objectives of the Position The APAC Procurement product team in the Procurement Product Family provides digital and core SAP solutions to fulfill the requirements from BASF companies globally. The main objectives of a Senior SAP Consultant / DevOps Engineer as the System/Solution Architect include advanced system knowledge & development skills, good knowledge and appreciation of business processes, detailed understanding of cross-functional relationships/impact, and a strategic overview of regional and local BASF needs. You will provide support towards issues/clarification, ensuring that customer requirements are accepted, analyzed, and described in an orderly fashion, and will be responsible for modeling, advising, and optimizing business processes in purchasing. Main Tasks
- Address complex requirements and modular focus points to handle change requests/projects assigned.
- Act as module team lead/member for the roll-out implementation of global and regional projects, IS integration projects (M&A), enhancements, and small local projects for the Asia-Pacific Region.
- Responsible for core solution development and contribute to the knowledge documentation development.
- Participate in several concurrent projects, providing guidance to external and internal team members on BASF business processes and ensuring adherence to BASF SAP ERP prototype and system integrity, according to agreed deliverables and deadlines.
- Provide internal training and functional knowledge development to project team members, ensuring project analysts demonstrate the required SAP application and business process skills.
- Participate in regional and local specific application projects as modular Team Lead/Project Lead, leading a team of internal and external consultants through the entire project life cycle implementation.
- As Solution Architect, ensure and review project deliverables and quality, capturing all functional and technical knowledge, identifying gaps in feasible design, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders for solutioning and roll-out implementation.
- Execute studies in the preliminary stage of projects, including evaluation of purchased software.
- Conduct prototyping/configuration and testing of new business solutions based on dedicated BASF business requirements while ensuring quality assurance.
- Support and/or steer the formulation of complex cost estimates for solution design efforts and for all other relevant project phases as part of the project life cycle planning process.
- Participate in innovation management and seek improvements based on lessons learned.
- Design and implement prototypes in projects using new technologies such as S4/HANA, Fiori, API, ASAPIO, CPI in a distributed system landscape.
- Communicate complex contexts convincingly to stakeholders within BASF and build stable relationships.
- Act as a Global/Regional representative of BASF Digital community, supporting BASF Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute, and implement customer-centric digital solutions.
- Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Informatics, or a comparable field.
- Minimum 6-8 years’ related working experience with complex SAP applications; knowledge of purchasing processes; financial invoice verification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge in Material Management (compulsory) and integration with different modules (e.g., Sales & Distribution, Finance & Controlling).
- Strong understanding of procurement processes (e.g., contracts, request for quotation, scheduling agreements) and experience in intercompany processes aligned with SAP and business best practices.
- Able to understand ABAP coding (debug skills).
- Experienced in SAP interfaces (e.g., iDoc, RFC, API, XML).
- Excellent English communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in an international team with a high level of customer orientation.
- Proactive and self-driven character with a high sense of responsibility and conflict management skills.
- Ability to convey information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to efficiently multi-task and be self-motivated, seeking solutions.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, building team spirit and coaching staff when appropriate.
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision and accept responsibility.
- Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and resolve potential conflicts.
- Skill and knowledge in Invoice Verification module within the SAP application.
- Skill and knowledge in ABAP/ABAP Objects and other programming languages/technologies such as Java, SAP Web Dynpro, SAP UI5, or Eclipse.
- Familiarity with data conversion tools and methodology.
- Good knowledge in authorization objects, roles & profiles.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Strong digital mindset to accelerate BASF's Digitalization transformation journey.
