You are responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of day to day operations, studio overall performance, ensuring key deliverables and milestones are achieved with continuous process improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Driving the Design Studio's successful establishment, operations and hand-over using proactive management, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Focus on and be accountable for actualizing core business segments:
(1) Establishing an efficient operating Studio building on the current working studio offices including the physical plant and all operational systems & procedures. (2) Establishing the associated digital platform including web portal, library-archives, general administration, outreach, intraoperative and external parties training, submissions compliance certification workflow, and monitoring-reporting. (3) Transacting the compliance review of submittals against set criteria on Urban Identities, Architectural Identity Guidelines (AIGs) including third party orientation-process induction, advice, submissions-review-certification, site audits, directives-guidelines-codes feedback and continuous process improvement/QA/QC review and feedback.
  • Manage and be accountable for the business: facilities establishment, requirements fulfillment strategy, key deliverables during Phase 1 Establishment period & Ph.2 Operations period corresponding Objectives-Key Results-KPIs development-monitoring-enforcement, associated policies & procedures, program development-management, human-equipment-facilities resourcing & management, and budget-cost-accounting-P&L management.
  • Assessing business requirements across all Design Studio segments.
  • Collaborating with the Client to secure and maintain all required business registrations, licenses, and accounts.
  • Managing operations and supervising the Design Studio staff & works.
  • Designing and presiding over the employee performance appraisal process.
  • Ensuring the workplace is conducive to maximum productivity, safe, free of security issues and in compliance with all government regulations.
  • Preparing robust cross-coordinated business and program execution plans.
  • Orchestrating workshops, awareness campaigns, brainstorming sessions, third party consultations, education seminars, town halls and making effective content-rich presentations to the Client, third parties, Setec and the Design Studio staff.
  • Managing the Lean Process Design Program improving efficiency, eliminating waste, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and implementing team-wide planning & delivery with focus on making holistic decisions & integration of the business segments.
  • Managing the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Monitoring and implementing navigational actions to optimize and enhance performance.
  • Leading the integrated team in driving forward a Center of Excellence.
  • Taking ownership of all Design Studio decisions including firm but fair reconciliation of differences.
  • Leading and being the Design Studio authorized signatory on all matters of general administrative, commercial, and QA-QC matters.
  • Negotiating contracts and purchase orders including sub-consultants, seconded personnel, vendors, and suppliers; organizing & coordinating the same.
  • Reviewing and approving the detailed progress and coordination of monthly and quarterly studio operations reports.
  • Preparing Design Studio monthly and quarterly business summary including status reports accounting for all Objectives-Key Results-KPIs-P&L across the entire Design Studio business; reconciling the same with and assimilating the path forward with the Client and Setec KSA.
Skills & Experience Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture or Urban Design, with very substantial track record of business and project management responsibility & experience. Minimum 15 Years post-graduate experience.
  • GCC experience, especially KSA.
  • Experience setting up and managing a Design Studio of approx. 15 personnel requiring the same or similar Responsibilities and Activities as outlined above.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements of the business.
  • Demonstrated track record of issues and decisions ownership & accountability.
  • Demonstrable analytical thinking and business insight.
  • Proactive problem averter-mitigator-solver.
  • Project Management expertise.
  • Ability to deliver high quality results on time/on budget in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities; effective, empathic, fair, and inspiring.
  • Excellent Client-facing skills.
  • Clear, concise & confident communicator: oral, written and reports preparation.
  • Fluent in Arabic language both oral and written.
  • Proficient in English language both oral and written.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing employees, mentoring and initiating Knowledge transfer programs.
  • Proficient in all typical Microsoft Office Applications, MS Project, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient in managing & engaging via MS Teams.
