We are looking for a dedicated Line Editor/Developmental Editor cum Proofreader [PREFERABLY from Publishing Industry (Book Trade)] to join our team and grow with us. This is a great opportunity for passionate individuals with a love for storytelling and an ability to refine manuscripts to perfection. This is a full-time remote position. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and consistency while maintaining the authors voice and style.
- Provide feedback on narrative structure, character development, pacing, and overall story arc for fiction manuscripts.
- Ensure organization, argument strength, and clarity for non-fiction manuscripts.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking to verify accuracy and reliability of all factual information, dates, and references.
- Format manuscripts according to specific style guides (e.g., Chicago, APA), including proper heading structures, tables, and figures.
- Verify the accuracy and consistency of references, citations, and footnotes.
- Suggest sentence restructuring, word choice improvements, and stylistic refinements to enhance readability and impact.
- Collaborate closely with authors to align manuscripts with their vision, offering constructive and actionable feedback.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to the development of GBPs editorial policies and procedures.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in editing, publishing, and literary development.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
- 1+ years of Relevant experience in line editing and developmental editing is required, preferably within the publishing industry.
- Experience proofreading both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts
- Exceptional command of the English language with strong grammar and editorial skills.
- Familiarity with various style guides, including Chicago Manual of Style and APA.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using editing tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs).
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for storytelling and literature.
