Position: Senior Full-Stack Developer Location: UK Remote or London HQ Why we’re hiring: We're on the lookout for an outstanding Senior Developer to join our growing engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform. What You’ll Be Doing As a Senior Developer at HotelMap, you’ll:
- Architect and Develop: Design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions for our event hotel booking platform.
- Lead Technical Projects: Take ownership of technical initiatives and contribute to architectural decisions that shape our platform’s future.
- Code Review and Mentorship: Provide feedback on code quality and guide junior developers to promote best practices.
- Optimise Performance: Fine-tune application performance, database queries, and caching strategies.
- Implement Security Best Practices: Ensure the platform adheres to the highest security standards.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver solutions.
- Support and Troubleshoot: Participate in on-call rotations and resolve production issues efficiently.
- 5+ years of professional PHP development experience.
- Deep understanding of Laravel, including best practices, design patterns, dependency injection, Eloquent ORM, API development, and testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Pest).
- Strong knowledge of modern ES6+ JavaScript.
- Experience with asynchronous programming and REST API consumption.
- Expertise in MySQL/PostgreSQL, query performance optimisation, database design, and caching strategies (Redis/Memcached).
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of messaging queues (Redis, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch.
- Understanding of web security best practices.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
- Experience with monitoring tools and error tracking.
- Good design eye and attention to detail.
- Strong mentorship abilities to support junior developers.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership in architectural decisions.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- You excel in creating robust, maintainable code and enjoy leading by example.
- You’re experienced with legacy codebases and can modernise them effectively.
- You’re collaborative, enjoy working in teams, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
- You thrive in fast-paced environments and are adept at juggling multiple priorities.
- You prefer working in a rigid, highly structured environment.
- You’re not comfortable taking ownership and initiative in projects.
