Position: DI Colorist Location: Mumbai Department: Post-Production Industry: Film, Web Series, Reality Show Job Description : The DI Colorist is responsible for the final color grading and correction of digital footage for films, web series, and reality shows. They enhance the visual tone, mood, and aesthetics of the project by applying color techniques in post-production. The role requires both technical expertise and artistic judgment to ensure the visual style of the project is consistent with the director's vision. Key Responsibilities: Color Grading: Perform color grading on raw footage using industry-standard software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Baselight). Enhance image quality by adjusting brightness, contrast, exposure, and color balance. Correct color inconsistencies to ensure the final look matches the director’s vision. Collaboration: Work closely with the Director, Director of Photography, and VFX team to understand the desired visual tone and style. Collaborate with other post-production teams such as editing, sound, and VFX to ensure the color grade complements the entire project. Footage Preparation: Ingest and organize digital files in the grading software. Perform scene matching and continuity in color grading across multiple shots or sequences. Ensure that the color grade works well for various formats (HD, 4K, etc.). Creative Input: Provide artistic input on the visual style and color palette based on the project’s themes. Experiment with different color schemes to convey specific moods or emotions in scenes. Technical Expertise: Ensure that the final color grading meets industry standards and technical specifications (e.g., HDR, SDR, Rec. 709, DCI-P3). Troubleshoot technical issues related to color grading and maintain high standards of quality control. Final Output: Export the final color-graded files in the required format for distribution (e.g., cinema, TV, online streaming platforms). Ensure all output files are correctly labeled and organized for delivery. Quality Control: Review and check the color grading for consistency, accuracy, and continuity. Ensure the graded footage is free from technical errors, such as banding or clipping. Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in color grading software, primarily DaVinci Resolve (or similar tools like Baselight, Nuke). Solid understanding of color theory and its application in filmmaking. Strong technical knowledge of post-production workflows, formats, and color spaces. Experience in working with raw camera footage (Red, Arri, Sony, etc.). Familiarity with visual effects (VFX) and compositing tools. Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and collaborative skills. A strong portfolio showcasing previous color grading work in films, web series, or reality shows. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in color grading in the film or TV industry. Experience in grading for different genres (drama, action, reality shows, etc.) is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or certification in Film, Media, or Post-Production. Experience in HDR (High Dynamic Range) grading. Understanding of camera formats and workflows used in high-end productions.
