The Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior 2nd Line Engineer to join our team. This position is pivotal in ensuring smooth IT operations for our clients by delivering technical expertise, resolving complex issues, and providing mentorship to junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve advanced technical issues relating to hardware, software, and networks.
- Act as an escalation point for the 1st and 2nd Line Engineers, ensuring timely resolution of incidents.
- Perform system monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, both remotely and on-site.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to implement solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and client interactions.
- Mentor junior engineers to support their professional development.
- Travel to client sites as required (must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to own vehicle).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT support role, preferably in a managed service provider environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting networking issues (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco (desirable but not essential).
