Field Service Engineer / Technician Location: North London Area Salary: Up to £50,000 per year DOE + benefits Work Setup: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Hours: Monday to Friday, no weekends Excellent Opportunity to join an exciting global organisation Job Scope Our client, a leading company in the development and supply of maritime navigation and surveillance radar systems, is seeking a passionate and skilled Field Service Engineer. Working within the Customer Service Department, the Field Service Engineer or Field Service Technician role is primarily field based supporting customers around the world conducting various activities on Naval vessels, Commercial vessels and Shore Based Systems. Key Responsibilities
- Regular travel within the UK and to multiple international destinations is a key part of this role, with travel requests often requiring short notice – most trips are brief, typically lasting no longer than two weeks
- Perform a range of service interventions, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and acceptance testing
- Complete detailed service reports and submit expense claims promptly following each activity
- Maintain clear and effective communication with line management regarding any technical issues encountered in the field
- While in the office, support the Customer Services Technical Helpdesk by responding to customer emails and, when needed, writing technical advice sheets
- Continuously strive to enhance quality, drive improvements and ensure customer satisfaction
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures during working hours
- Participate in necessary training courses to maintain and develop skill sets
- Occasionally work beyond the standard 37-hour week or during unsocial hours, in line with contractual obligations
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
- Knowledge of computers, including both hardware and software applications
- Previous experience in a field servicing environment, ideally in the marine sector, though this is not essential
- ONC qualification is preferred, but not mandatory
- Willingness to work towards obtaining a Tower Climbing & Rescue Certificate
- Basic understanding of networking
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Full, valid driving licence
- Valid passport
- Ability to walk up to 400 metres carrying a tool kit, with a potential weight of 10kg
- Capacity to ascend the equivalent of 10 flights of stairs, followed by an additional 10 metres on a ladder
- Ability to work in confined spaces, requiring flexibility and manoeuvrability
- Capability to work at heights, including locations up to 70 metres
