We are currently seeking an Entry Level Associate to join Withum’s Forensic and Valuation Services Group in any of our offices. How You’ll Spend Your Time:
- Preparing valuation analyses and reports to financial institutions for small business transactions financed through the U.S. SBA 7(a) program primarily in Excel/Word
- Completing data entry of tax returns and financial statements into Excel models
- Assisting in writing and preparing of reports, letters, and other client deliverables
- Performing macroeconomic and industry research
- Reviewing various agreements, documents, research papers, and market research with the intent of capturing salient points to be used for modeling purposes and clearly communicate the key drivers to others
- Reviewing and gaining a sufficient understanding of the necessary tax and financial reporting guidance governing the analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, or similar quantitative discipline
- Previous experience with business valuations for SBA or other lending purposes desired
- Understanding of business valuations specifically for small businesses (less than $5 million in revenues)
- Understanding of equity valuation methods such as discounted cash flow, market multiple, and market transactions (familiarity with DealStats a plus)
- Understanding normalization adjustments to financial statements such as officer’s compensation and market rent adjustments
- Understanding of financial statements and business tax returns required
- Progress towards external designations such as CVA, CFA, ASA, or CPA/ABV a plus
- Strong interest in quantitative and economic analysis
- Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
- Capacity to work independently on business valuations
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
