DescriptionPosition at Al Jazeera Media NetworkSpecialist - Satellite DeskContract Type: Full timeJob Summary:The responsibility of a Specialist - Satellite Desk is to manage and coordinate all transmissions for News and Programs. All bookings via satellite, IP, fiber, and streaming for live on-air production using a professional resource management and scheduling system. You will be responsible for coordinating with relevant internal and external parties to ensure the smooth incoming of news feeds.Specific Responsibilities:Receive and execute satellite booking requests from News editors, Interview and Program producers & coordinating with field crew & bureaus to ease flow of incoming news footage.Decide on the best route possible for news stories, interviews, or live location feeds through satellite, fiber optic network, or IP Network.Deploy SNG and ENG crews & book broadcast facilities worldwide as and when required.Log all transmissions (Live, pre-rec, Bgan, tape, etc.) in scheduling system, entering onsite coordination information, technical specifications, and costs.Communicate with other network satellite desks to optimize usage of resources.Communicate with Newsdesk, MCR, Ingest on any transmission changes & cost updates.Troubleshoot in case of extension, cancellation, or transmission failure.Manage communications workflow for AJA and AJM only, managing all OS with MCR, connecting IFB & clearing to Director.Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:Bachelor's Degree in Media related field, or broadcast engineering, IT, etc. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a related field.
