Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lecture and assess distance learning students in the Advanced Diploma in Technical & Vocational Teaching the following modules: > History of vocational education in South Africa > Philosophical conversations in a vocational context > Vocational Education – perspectives from History and Philosophy
  • Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
  • Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
  • Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
  • Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
  • Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
  • Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the Registrar’s Office.
  • Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes
  • Participate in research and community engagement projects.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
  • Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
  • Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum Requirements | Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years teaching and/or lecturing experience in the tertiary (TVET) sector in the relevant phases and disciplines.
  • Minimum Bachelor (Honours) or equivalent qualification with relevant study in history and philosophy of education.
  • PGCE or other relevant professional teaching qualification
  • Experience in curriculum and materials development.
  • Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.
  • A strong background in history and philosophy of education
  • Clear understanding of the TVET sector

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.

  • Ability to cope with change.
  • Ability to work remotely and flexible hours.
