About the role At HG, our team of experienced planners aim to create resilient communities by delivering quality urban forms and enhancing our environment in a way that we can all be proud of. We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Planner to join our team in Tauranga. This is a key role to shape the future of our urban environments. From small and unique to complex and large scale, you’ll lead diverse projects that include strategic and policy planning, resource consenting and designations as well as feasibility and advisory services. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, urban designers and environmental specialists to enhance our environment and deliver integrated planning solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and contribute towards the delivery of various planning projects including major urban development and infrastructure projects.
- Provide best-practice planning advice and strategic solutions that balance the needs of our clients with the broader community and the environment.
- Work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams and communicate proactively with clients to build long-term and meaningful relationships.
- Guide and coach junior team members to support their career growth.
- Keep up to date with latest developments in planning and legislative changes
- Relevant tertiary qualification in planning, urban development, or a related field.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI).
- 5+ years experience in planning, with a strong understanding of the RMA and local planning frameworks
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment
- Experience of infrastructure consenting, and related policy development is desirable
- Experience in implementing Te Aranga principles into plans and a desire to create collaborative outcomes with tangata whenua.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills plus the ability to establish collaborative relationships at multiple levels.
